🍄 Lion’s Mane Mushroom Steak

Meaty, tender, and seared to perfection

đź§‚ Ingredients:

  • 2 large Lion’s Mane mushroom caps (whole, cleaned and trimmed)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or avocado oil
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce or coconut aminos
  • 1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary or thyme (or 1 tsp dried)
  • 2 cloves garlic, smashed
  • Sea salt and cracked black pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon plant-based butter (optional, for finishing)

🔪 Instructions:

  1. Clean the mushrooms: Gently brush off any dirt. Do not rinse with water.
  2. Press the mushrooms: Use towels and a heavy pan to flatten slightly and remove moisture.
  3. Marinate (optional): Mix oil, soy sauce, vinegar, herbs, and garlic. Brush over mushrooms and let sit 10–30 mins.
  4. Heat the pan: Preheat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add a little oil.
  5. Sear: Place mushrooms in the pan, press down, and cook 3–4 mins per side until golden.
  6. Butter finish: Add plant butter and herbs in the final 30 seconds. Spoon over mushrooms.
  7. Rest & slice: Let sit 2 mins, then serve whole or sliced.

  • With mashed sweet potatoes and sautĂ©ed greens
  • As a “steak sandwich” with caramelized onions
  • Over wild rice with mushroom gravy
